"We'll never be able to say thank you enough times… We joke with our family that the reason she is such a happy and easy baby to care for is because we 'custom ordered' her from you."

About the Institute

At Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute (Pacific IVF), our professional staff works together with couples to achieve our common goal--a successful pregnancy.

Our team of highly devoted and committed physicians, nurses and lab personnel does all it can ethically and technologically for the fertility of our patients. In short, we enable women to conceive children through the appropriate use of modern technology.

The First and Most Successful

Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute is the first and most successful fertility clinic in Hawaii.

It was established in January 1985 to provide in vitro fertilization treatment to couples with severe infertility problems. We assist couples in cases when all other efforts have been exhausted (and where it is impossible to do so by any other means). Our doctors were the first to perform successful in vitro fertilization in Hawaii. Click to read about our interesting history.

A group of five gynecologists who specialize in infertility and a PhD embryologist formed the clinic in 1985. Dr. Thomas Kosasa, Dr. Philip McNamee, Dr. Carl Morton (Dr. Thomas Huang is the lab director, reproductive biologist) still are directors. Click to read more about our staff and physicians.

Infertility treatment can be complex, requiring a large amount of time and effort by many professionals. At Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute we employ the "team approach". Physicians, biologists, technicians, nurses and front office staff work together to provide couples with the highest level of care.

Patients have the benefit of the wealth of knowledge from all three of our experienced physicians. All our physicians work together on a patient's case to provide the highest level of care. You will be seen by each of the physicians during the course of your IVF cycle. Our internal charting and communication protocol ensures that at any time any professional within the clinic is fully apprised of your case.

Our clinic and embryo laboratory is located at the Kapi`olani Medical Center office building, where it has been since its start.

The Most Respected Clinic in Hawaii

Our long history of successful pregnancies for couples with previously no hope of bearing children on their own has given the clinic its well-deserved reputation. The professional organizations to which the Institute belongs attest to its credentials in the medical community.

SART - The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology
SART is a national professional society. We have been a member of SART since 1989. Through SART, the clinic data is reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

ASRM - American Society for Reproductive Medicine
We are also a member of American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). This is a professional society that is affiliated with SART.

CDC Certified
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has a certification program for assisted reproductive technology (ART) embryo laboratories. This program includes a set of quality standards specifically designed to assure the quality performance of embryo laboratory procedures. It also includes laboratory personnel qualifications, laboratory records maintenance procedures and criteria for the certification and inspection of embryo laboratories.

Galileo Research Laboratories

Tyho-Galileo operates a number of research laboratories and supports affiliate Tyho-Galileo Centers worldwide working towards the common goals of achieving excellence, promoting the exchange of information, advancing reproductive science and assisting infertile patients. Tyho-Galileo strives to attract outstanding scientists and provide support wherever it can to clinic teams in order to optimize performance and introduce new cutting edge technology.
The advancement of assisted reproductive technology (ART), including preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) not only benefits the treatment of infertility and genetic disease. This research also shows great promise in elucidating fundamental aspects of biology with much wider clinical and scientific significance. Since government funding, and philanthropic and other support for research in these areas is limited, Tyho-Galileo serves as a particularly important source of financial and scientific support for these efforts.
